IMPLEMENTATION SPECIFICS FOR “1C: ERP ENTERPRISE MANAGEMENT”
Of all IT projects, the implementation of an ERP class system is the most difficult and serious challenge an enterprise has to deal with. All key managers of the enterprise should be involved in the implementation process, because it is their efforts and competence that define how fully the new system will meet the functional requirements of their departments in the future.
An ERP system is implemented only within the framework of those projects the preparation of which begins long before the implementation project itself.
1С ERP IMPLEMENTATION STAGES
Stage No. 1: performing an express examination of the initial situation
At this stage, the requirements of the end Customers for the future system are collected, and several stages of studying the initial situation are carried out.
The result is a survey report, on the basis of which the Contractor will be able to propose an “implementation roadmap” including the budgeting and the implementation time.
Stage No. 2: collecting requirements and preparing the functional system design
At the stage of forming the catalog of requirements for the new system, several actions are carried out. First, interviews with key users are conducted on the subject of functional improvements. It’s no secret that it’s almost impossible to find a medium-sized or large organization that uses a fully standardized 1C product, especially when it comes to a comprehensive accounting system such as “1C: Production Enterprise Management”, “1C: Trade Management” and so on.
Stage No. 3: the prototype system development
The prototype of the system is created in stages. Even during the preparation of the Functional Design, the improvements are ranked in the list of modifications. It is obvious that not all requirements of the Customer have the same significance and value. Consequently, the standard approach for us is the formation of releases. For example, release No. 1 contains all modifications critical for the system launching, whereas release No. 2 contains all important improvements, etc.
Stage No. 4: trial operation of the system
This stage is necessary for a comprehensive check of the performance of the software, the modifications and adjusted system parameters by using a large array of real production data. Based on the results of the pilot operation, a list of issues regarding the system is formed, which are eliminated before the system is put into commercial operation.
Stage No. 5: commissioning of the working circuit
Putting into commercial operation is the most critical stage of the implementation project. Before the system can be launched, a comprehensive training is conducted for all the users of ERP subsystems.
Stage No. 6: post-project maintenance of the system
After the ERP system is put into operation, the system is transferred for maintenance. If the Customer’s company has its own maintenance department, it is advisable to consider the transfer of the first maintenance line to the Customer so that the Contractor introduces maintenance only for complex or labor-intensive requests. If there is no such internal maintenance service, then, depending on the tariff plan, EXPICO may offer different levels of maintenance with different periods of response to requests.
This description is only a guideline for such projects. In practice, the project plan, the stages, and the queue for the implementation of subsystems are developed individually.
